Rottweiler are used as service dogs in the police. The dog type is popular as a public order enforcement dog. Rottweilers are dogs that can be used for working and are often used as a guard dog. It is therefore as guardian of the home or property.

The rottweiler is often portrayed as the most intelligent dog breeds. Mental stimulation is important.

Aggression between dogs vary more between individuals than between various dog breeds, but the tendency for dog aggression is perhaps somewhat higher in rottweiler. The dog type is considered as one of the more kid-friendly dog breeds, but do not forget: Young children should never be left alone with dogs. Some argue that children-friendly dog breeds don't exist, and in many ways that is a valid point. As distant descendants of the wolf this breed still have some strong instincts. Puppies tend to play bite, and this can increase lung adulthood if one ignores the problem.

The dog breed's appearance: A rottweiler is a midsize dog breed, short coat, with a muscular body type, half standing ears, long hanging tail, relatively short muzzle, and in all a nice dog looking at.

Health: The health problems for rottweilers varies and can vary between individuals. Potential health problems are hip dysplasia, hypothyroidism, hypothyroidism, ordinary diseases and other diseases and health problems.

Other info about the dog type: The rottweiler were first bred in Germany. Expected age will vary, but anything from 10 to 12 years is expected. The dog type is highly popular and easy to find in classified ads and even in animal shops. Rottweilers were initially bred for guarding flocks, herding, and driving.

Grouping of rottweiler: American Kennel Club places the dog type in the group «working dogs». United Kennel Club files the dog type in the category «guardian dog». Rottweiler have been approved by F.C.I. and their dog breed list as #147 in section «molossoid dogs» (2.2) in the group «pinscher and schnauzer, molossoid dogs, swiss mountain and cattle breeds» (registered 2000-04-06).
