Pekingese are companion dogs, and do justice to the expression of dogs as man's best friend.

Pekingeses sheds, but less than many other breeds. Daily care of the coat contributes to the dog's well-being.

The pekingese dog should be a pleasure to to exercise with, but individual differences in the breed is expected. Like all dogs, dogs of this breed will need their daily walks. This type of dog appreciate exercise, but are not as demanding as many other breeds.

Some dogs may be reserved above strangers, but it may be very large variations between different dogs too. They are usually loving with other dogs. The breed is considered child friendly but generalization here can be adversely. However, you should never leave small children alone with dogs. Many dogs are good with children, but differences within the breed is also quite large. Its temper bear little resemblance to the grey wolf, the animal all dogs originated from. Certain breeds tend to bite, but pekingese is not known for this.

Some would argue that barks less than other breeds, albeit some owners may find this to be a bogus claim. Pekingeses are very well suited to the climate in slightly cooler regions, but is not as well suited to warmer climates. This is a robust dog that can tolerate cold and low temperatures nice and thrive winter and summer. Like all dogs is also this very playful as a puppy but calms down often in adulthood. They do have a tendency to stay close to their owners, and a pekingese should display little or no lust to run away. There are not any problems associated with having these dogs in an apartment.

The dog breed's anatomy: A pekingese is a small breed, longhaired, with an average body , hanging ears, short curled tail, extremely short muzzle, and a fresh look.

Health: The diseases for pekingeses varies and varies between individuals. Health problems that may occur include eyelid problems, heatstroke, respiratory difficulties, spinal disc problems, hypothyroidism, eye problems, common canine disorders and other general common diseases in dogs.

Good to know about this type of dog: The pekingese is originally from China. This type of dog is popular and easy to find in classified ads and even in animal shops. Pekingeses were initially bred for royal companionship. The breed are also being called peke, peking palasthund.

Pekingese classification: American Kennel Club places this type of dog in the group «toy dogs». United Kennel Club files this type of dog in the category «Companion dog». Pekingese is even included in International Federation of Kennel Clubs and their directory as #207 in section «japan chin and pekingese» (9.8) in the group «companion and toy dogs» (registered 2009-03-26). Also recognized by the Canadian Kennel as «toy dogs».
