Cane Corsos are dogs that can be used for working and can do a great job as a guard dog. They are the market's best burglar alarm! Cane Corso have been used as a fighting dog (unfortunately), but responsible breeders set a new course for the breed. Cane Corsos sheds, but less than many other breeds. Easy grooming of the coat is one of several advantages of this breed.

The breed demands some exercise, although there are other breeds that require more ventilation of their owners.

Some dogs may be reserved above non-family members, but it may be quite large variations between different dogs too. Dogs of this dog breed will usually be approachable and affectionate towards other dogs. Grouping of cane corso: American Kennel Club places the breed in the group «miscellaneous class». United Kennel Club files the breed in the category «guardian dog». Cane Corso is included in International Federation of Kennel Clubs database of dog breeds as #343 in section «molossoid dogs» (2.2) in the group «pinscher and schnauzer, molossoid dogs, swiss mountain and cattle breeds» (registered 2007-05-21). Also recognized by the Canadian Kennel as «working dog breeds».
