Borzoi are hunting dogs. They are sighthounds. Sighthounds are quite fast, and have a very good vision in relation to other dog breeds.

Borzois sheds, but less than many other breeds. Although frequent grooming of the coat is not strictly necessary, it contributes to the dog's overall well-being and prosperity.

Borzois are often referred two as a dog for the more experienced, and some owners claim they can be sophisticated to train with. The dog type are often focused in what it is doing, and easy to deal with. Although there are breeds that are characterized as even more energetic, this is still a breed that requires his daily walks. The dog's physical features: A borzoi is a midsize dog breed, longhaired, with a slim body shape, small hanging ears, quite long legs, hanging tail, long muzzle, and overall a look that will get noticed everywhere.

Health: The health problems for borzois varies and can vary between individuals. They are bloat, hypothyroidism, different illnesses in canines and other diseases and health problems.

More information about the dog: The borzoi were first bred in Russia. Life expectancy will vary, but anything from 10 to 12 years is normal. Litter varies from 5 to 7 puppies. The dog type is a comparatively highly popular and there is still someone who advertises puppies for sale. Borzois were initially bred for wolf hunting and coursing game. Other names for the dog type is russian hunting sighthound, russkaya psovaya borzaya, barsoi, barzaļa, barzoi, russischer windhund, lebrel ruso.

Approved kennel clubs: American Kennel Club places the dog type in the group «hounds». United Kennel Club files the dog type in the category «sighthound & pariah». Borzoi have been approved by FCI and their dog breed list as #193 in section «fringed long-haired sighthounds» (10.1) in the group «sighthounds» (registered 2006-10-25). Also recognized by the Canadian Kennel as «hounds».
